South Africa – The Adventure Begins
After a seemingly endless overnight flight, Mark and I have arrived in South Africa safely, despite the pilot having to take a couple of attempts at landing! It has been great to see Andy, Lyn, Hannah and Bex. They have made us feel really welcome and we’re very much at home in their lovely house. I’m not rubbing it in, but I the room I’m staying in is twice as big as Mark’s and is en-suite! (Jesus loves me, this I know, for the bathroom tells me so!)
Today, while Mark slept (being so much older than me he couldn’t cope with the flight) I went with Andy into a township and met some of the people he works with, including Lizo, the pastor of a church in the township. He seems a great guy who is always smiling – somehow his smile seems bigger than his head! Their church meets in a little shack built on the side of their house (their house is more or less one room divided by curtains). The church room is about 4m x 6m (less than half the size of Wonford Riverside Hall) and they squeeze 100 people in to their Sunday service. I’ll get to visit on Sunday – I’m looking forward to it.Anyway – we’re safe and enjoying ourselves. We’ll keep you updated through the blog. Leave some comments if you want.
